Vicente and Clara’s Story

The generosity of friends like you is already transforming lives in Mozambique.

In Mozambique’s western province of Manica, Franciscan friars have already helped one family move into a safe, permanent home. Before receiving their new home, Vicente and his wife, Clara, lived with their three children and six foster children in a fragile, crowded house. Their greatest wish was simple: to give their children a real home.

Because of friends like you, their wish was fulfilled.

“It’s a dream come true,” Vicente shared. “Now we can offer not just a roof, but a real home where our children can feel loved and protected.”

Clara added, “This house shows the kindness of many friends who don’t even know us but think of us. We are forever grateful.”

Vicente and Clara’s new home now stands as a powerful example of what your compassion and generosity can make possible.

Franciscan friars are now preparing to extend this hope of a home to others. Under the guidance of Father Jorge Alberto Bender, OFM, five additional homes are planned for families living in extreme poverty.

A home is so much more than a shelter from the elements. It is a place to rest, raise a family, and live out our days in dignity. A home allows families with young children or elderly widows who live alone to experience peace and comfort instead of uncertainty and fear.
